Marston’s specify Lincat catering equipment

Marston’s, one of the UK’s leading independent pub retailers and the largest brewer of cask beer in Britain, has specified the use of Lincat catering equipment throughout its 1,100 managed and franchised pubs.

Marston’s list of specified Lincat equipment focuses largely on Lincat’s heavy duty Opus 700 range, including oven ranges, fryers and high efficiency Vortech fryers with built in filtration. It also includes Lincat’s automatic water boilers and Opus combi steamers.

The decision to specify Lincat equipment was taken following a tender process, which included two extensive equipment trials.

The first day long trial took place at Marston’s development and training kitchen in Wolverhampton. Several of Marston’s chefs from various different sites were invited to cook and feed back on a variety of Lincat equipment, which included ranges, fryers and combi-steamers.

The second trial involved testing Lincat equipment at one Marston’s pub over a month long period. The catering equipment was assessed for performance and energy efficiency as well as price and service support.

Andy Kershaw, Group Facilities Manager at Marston’s, said:

“Lincat equipment is well designed, well made and competitively priced. But Lincat has also impressed us with their speed of delivery for new equipment and the quality of their aftersales service.”

Rob Gibson, Group National Accounts Manager at Lincat, added:

“We are delighted with the new partnership we now have with Marston’s. They operate a rigorous tendering process, which is understandable given the number of outlets they manage, so the performance of our products was critical, not least in terms of energy efficiency. In the pub trials our Opus 700 Vortech fryers, for example, were shown to deliver a significant reduction in gas usage.”

Marston’s is the latest success for Lincat’s Opus 700 range of heavy duty equipment in national accounts. It is already specified by Spirit, Greene King, Sainsbury’s, McMullen’s, J D Wetherspoon, SA Brains, JLP/Waitrose, Asda and Debenhams amongst others.
