Spirit Group choose Lincat Opus 700 for high volume catering applications

Spirit Group, one of the UK’s largest pub operators, has specified Lincat’s Opus 700 heavy duty equipment as part of its new kitchen template for the group’s high volume, Two For One concept. Opus 700 has earned its place in the template having proven its power, flexibility and reliability in pubs throughout the Spirit estate for the past five years.

spiritThe new templates have been developed by Nick Brassett, Spirit’s Catering Equipment and Operations Manager. He has been tasked with improving the way kitchens work by using the best equipment to enhance speed of service, facilitate volume management and deliver the best quality food faster. The equipment specifications for Two For One pubs, which typically produce between 2000 and 3000 freshly prepared meals per week, are rigorous.

“We need catering equipment which is powerful, reliable and flexible”, said Nick Brassett. “We’ve used Lincat Opus 700 for over five years and we know it’s equal to the task. We have worked this equipment hard and it has not let us down. We are particularly impressed with the Opus 700 griddles which, in our opinion, are more powerful than others on the market.”

He continued…

“Lincat have listened carefully to our feedback over the years, and have incorporated our suggestions for adaptation and improvement. They have even developed entirely new products at our request. After sales support is excellent and since Lincat is a UK manufacturer we have no concerns with regard to spare parts availability.”

One of Sprit’s latest Two For One investments is the Manor Farm at Old Denaby, South Yorkshire. The kitchen is equipped with a range of Lincat Opus 700 gas powered equipment including: boiling tops, a pasta boiler and two chrome griddles. Over half of the meals served on Friday and Saturday evenings are produced on two 700mm chrome griddles. The kitchen team is typically five strong at the weekend, led by Kitchen Manager Darren Lines and Head Chef Matt Wilson. They described Opus 700 as ‘very good equipment – easy to use, effective and powerful’. They also find it easy to clean.

The on-going performance of Lincat Opus 700 equipment throughout the Spirit estate is monitored closely by the chefs that are using it, and by the company’s investment trainers who work with the kitchen teams to ensure quality and consistency of all output. Their work is monitored by objective, external assessors and feedback from customers is always taken into consideration. This is vital since word of mouth from customers based on good food, good beer and good atmosphere is crucial to building business.

Lincat’s range of Opus 700 equipment comprises: bains marie, boiling tops, chargrills, chip scuttles, fryers, griddles, oven ranges, pasta boilers, salamander grills and worktops.  Each piece of Opus 700 equipment benefits from a comprehensive two-year warranty and this is backed up by a nationwide network of service engineers. Lincat Ltd is part of the Lincat Group of companies. Sister companies IMC Ltd and Britannia Kitchen Ventilation Ltd operate in the commercial catering equipment sector. Lincat Group company Mercury Appliances Ltd designs and manufactures domestic cooking appliances.

Overall there are more than 450 products in the Lincat range including: fryers, griddles, grills, ovens and combi steamers as well as beverage equipment, hot cupboards, trolleys and food display merchandisers. Excellent customer service is provided through Lincat’s extensive national and international dealer network.   Lincat Ltd is part of the Lincat Group of companies.
