Buying British makes more sense than ever claims Lincat

Lincat Ltd, the UK’s leading manufacturer of commercial catering equipment, claims that there has never been a better time to buy British. This is due, Lincat believes, to a number of different factors.

SLR9“To start with the weak pound is making imported equipment much more expensive to buy”, said Nick McDonald, Marketing Director of Lincat Ltd. “However it’s certainly not just an issue of cost. British designed and manufactured equipment is ideal for British applications.”

He continued…

“For example large British ovens, with side opening doors, are perfect for the traditional roast. European manufacturers in contrast tend to stick to shallow ovens with drop down doors. Side opening doors make it easy to reach into our large, deep ovens, maintaining a safe, straight-backed posture, to remove heavy, hot dishes. They also avoid the serious tripping hazard of a drop down door left open.

In addition British kitchens are often limited in terms of size, with the result that a British built 6-burner range, which is typically 900mm wide fits perfectly, whereas an imported model, which is typically larger, does not. Lincat’s comprehensive Opus 700 heavy duty range of prime cooking equipment has for example, undergone rigorous product trials, and been selected by national pub chains including Punch and Spirit for use throughout their estates.”

Lincat has also noticed that many organisations and, larger ones in particular, are keen to buy British out of concern for the environment. Policies to reduce the carbon footprint of larger organisations are beginning to reach the kitchen. Buying British and thereby reducing ‘equipment’ miles is becoming more important.

Last but by no means least, Lincat believes that operators are choosing British made equipment thanks to the excellent sales, spare parts and after sales service which can be provided by a manufacturer which is based here in the UK.

Overall there are more than 450 products in the Lincat range including: fryers, griddles, grills, ovens and combi steamers as well as beverage equipment, hot cupboards, trolleys and food display merchandisers, almost all of which are manufactured at the company’s factory in Lincoln. Excellent customer service is provided through Lincat’s extensive national and international dealer network.

Lincat Ltd is part of the Lincat Group of companies. Sister companies IMC Ltd and Britannia Kitchen Ventilation Ltd operate in the commercial catering equipment sector. Lincat Group company Mercury Appliances Ltd designs and manufactures domestic cooking appliances.
